traders, explorers and scientists dominated there in the past. today tourism plays an important role in zanzibar. zanzibar is famous for being a major producer of cloves and for having been a port city for slaves. the ancient stone town of zanzibar has a fascinating labyrinth of narrow streets lined with whitewashed houses made from pieces of coral, each with overhanging balconies and intricately carved brass door knockers. many shops, bazaars, mosques and courtyards can be found there. outside the city there are ruined palaces, shirazi remains and persian baths.

Day 1: nairobi or mombasa – zanzibar

you will be picked up from the hotel and taken to the jkia in nairobi or in mombasa mia and fly to zanzibar airport with kenya airways / precision air or fly 540 aviation. upon arrival you will be picked up and driven to zanzibar serena inn or fairmont zanzibar. (hp)

Day 2 + 3: Zanzibar

after breakfast, take a guided tour of the stone city, which is part of a spice plantation. then transfer to your beach hotel with half board. Spend two nights of leisure and relaxation on the private beach at Zanzibar Serena Inn or Fairmont Zanzibar. (hp)

Day 4: Zanzibar - Nairobi or Mombasa

transfer to the airport for your flight to nairobi or mombasa.
